You want to swim this season.
This is the honest headline. If the timeline matters more than anything else, fiberglass wins and it is not close.

Roughly three to five weeks from excavation to startup once permits are issued, and a clean site with good access can beat that. The shell is already finished when it arrives, so there is no curing or plastering to wait on. Weather and the deck pour are the usual variables.
Not when it is installed correctly. The two things that cause those stories are poor backfill and draining the pool without managing groundwater. We backfill in lifts, set the shell on a properly prepared base, and we will tell you plainly never to drain it yourself. If the water table is a concern on your lot, we address it at install rather than after.
No, and that is the real trade. You choose from the shapes the manufacturer molds. What you can customize is everything around the pool: decking, coping, water features, lighting, and equipment. If a specific shape is non-negotiable, gunite or vinyl liner is your answer and we build both.
The gel coat is the finish rather than a coating over something else, so it holds color far longer than plaster holds its tone. Sun exposure and consistently poor water chemistry are what shorten it. Keeping the water balanced is the whole maintenance story on a fiberglass pool.
Talk to us before you buy one. We would rather quote the shell and the install together so there is one company standing behind the finished pool, and so we can confirm the model actually fits your access and your grade.
