Vinyl liner pools, the most swimming per dollar.

A braced wall panel system, a smooth floor, and a fitted liner stretched over the whole thing. It is the most efficient way to put a large, custom-shaped pool in a Middle Tennessee backyard, and it gives you something the other two construction types cannot: a surface that is genuinely soft to the touch.

What a vinyl liner pool is

A structural wall, a smooth floor, and a fitted liner.

The structure is a ring of braced wall panels, steel or polymer, set on a footing and locked together to the shape you drew. The floor is troweled smooth. Then a liner, manufactured to the exact dimensions of your pool, is fitted over all of it and pulled tight with vacuum before the water goes in.

That construction is why vinyl liner pools cost less without being smaller. The expensive part of a concrete pool is the concrete shell and the finish that goes over it. Here, the wall does the structural work and the liner does the finishing work, and neither one requires a crew spraying and curing material in your backyard for weeks.

It is also why the shape is not limited. Panels come in straight runs, radiuses, and corners, so an L-shape, a lazy-L, a true rectangle with a swim lane, or a freeform with a diving well are all normal builds rather than special requests.

What it costs

Vinyl liner is the lowest entry point of the three, and the reason is the construction method rather than any compromise on size or shape.

The honest thing to plan for is the liner itself. It is a wear item, not a permanent surface, and it will need replacing at some point in the pool's life. Sun exposure, water chemistry, and how the pool is used all affect how long it goes. Treat that replacement as a known future cost the way you would a roof, and vinyl liner is very hard to beat on value.

What else moves the number: overall size, depth and whether there is a diving well, decking square footage, retaining and grade, the equipment package, and features like slides or water features. We measure, check access and grade, and give you an itemized proposal with a CAD drawing. The consult is free

Fiberglass, gunite, or vinyl liner

We build all three, so we have no reason to push you toward one.
The usual decision is vinyl liner versus fiberglass, and it usually comes down to whether the exact shape matters more than the maintenance load. Have us out and we will tell you which way your yard points.

Frequently Asked Questions

What homeowners ask us most.

It depends far more on water chemistry and sun than on the liner itself. Balanced water and a cover when the pool is not in use will get you years longer than neglected chemistry will. We will tell you honestly what yours looks like at every service visit rather than waiting for it to fail.

We drain, remove the old liner, inspect the walls and floor for anything that needs correcting while it is open, and fit the new one. It is a short job compared to a resurfacing, and the pool looks new when it is done. We replace liners on pools we did not build. See renovations.

It can be punctured, usually by something sharp dropped into it or dragged across it, and pets are another common cause. Small punctures are patchable underwater, and we do that repair regularly. It is worth knowing that a tear is a repair, not a replacement, most of the time.

No. It is cheaper because the wall system does the structural work instead of a sprayed concrete shell, which removes weeks of labor and material from the build. A properly installed vinyl liner pool with a steel or polymer wall is a permanent structure. The liner over it is the consumable part.

Often yes, and vinyl liner is one of the easier construction types to get real depth from. It depends on the diving envelope, the shape, and your local code and insurance situation. We will design to the standard if a board matters to you, and it is much easier to plan for at the start than to add later.
